I also recommend re checking that your power valve is hooked up and working correctly ( removal of cylinder not needed). Everything with a two stroke is a compromise. While flattening out the pipe doesn't change the power much, the flatter you go the more likely it will have a negative affect. For a 500cc engine I probably wouldn't go thinner than say 2.5". Doesnt sound like a very trustworthy selller. It probably has more problems than 5 dollar jets. I highly doubt a pinhole would cause this. It either is jetted bad or the power valve wont open or both. Also check the compression to see how hard it is to turn over.
